Chapter Summary:
connecting with a student is important to help them find their own way
to fire their circuits. The connection between and students and a teacher or a
coach with a player is requires time to in figuring out what that individual
needs to be successful. Teachers/coaches have taken years to develop and
understanding of knowledge to what they are trying to convey to others. They are constantly experimenting new way to
teach and in this creating their matrix.
Some teachings will be direct and straight forward quick and concise,
while others may be quiet, requiring long-term observations. Either way, the ending goal of theses
teaching is to constantly keep their students circuits firing as often as
possible, which will often lead students to become their own source of learning
and exploring.
Key Concept: Every student has his or her own needs. As a
teacher or a coach its their obligation to take the time to connect with those
needs until the student is able to teach themselves.
Key Terms: Matrix, Perceptiveness, The GPS Reflex,
Theatrical Honesty, Circuit-Growing
Connection- I connected with Septien when she went into the
audition thinking that she did great but in reality she sucked because she had
no feeling. I think sometimes if I cannot connect with a piece I often pay less
attention to detail because applying it to real life may be difficult. There have been some instances where I had to
use hypothetical emotions but still it gets rough pushing through.
