Chapter Summary: Laugh! See the humor in the mistakes you make, slow it down, and try again. Practicing so seriously can become an addiction, which may lead to making the same mistake over and over again. Simplifying practice can help pin-point one issue at a time rather than many issues at once. For example, Diane and Jerry sensing the shape of the sounds they were making with their violins. They were focuses on how natural their playing was rather than how accurate it was. Detaching from perfection is helpful when one is listening to the sounds they are producing. Having awareness of our own mistakes rather than relying on someone elses knowledge of our mistakes. We need to sacrifice accuracy. Connection: I laugh at myself all the time, but its more like, "what the hell was that sound that just came out of my mouth." I think there is a time to be serious and a time to have fun while working hard. I loved the line in this chapter that talked about "sacrificing accuracy". Its ok to make mistakes and try again.
