Sarah Boucher TC: Chapter 10 Summary

Sarah Boucher TC: Chapter 10 Summary
Chapter Summary: Master coaches are happy to stay out of the lime light but they are essential in the building of talent. Like Tom Martinez, they make personal connections to their students and find out how to direct their students learning in a way that suits them best. They use many different approaches like, tactile, personification, image and physical cues.
Key Points:
Master coaches are necessary to the development of skill. No one can do it alone.
Master coaches use connections to their students to find access to a learning style that best suits them.
Key Terms:
tactile
personification
Making Connections: I often take the "master coaches" for granted in my life. This chapter just reminded me of how important they are, and how especially for a singer an outside ear is crucial for development. I have loved learning more about their process and how all the simple things that my teachers have been doing with me over the years contribute to how far I have come. It makes me excited to be a teacher myself and have the challenge of finding techniques that work for different students and learning styles.
