Chapter Summary-Performers often have greater potential than they themselves can perceive. Sometimes they fill themselves with doubts about they're abilities when in reality there is a wonderful performer hidden inside of them. These doubts, however, can prevent someone from tapping in completely to their talents. So, it is important that a performer is creative in the way he/she practices so as to break down this mental block. Creative practice methods can help performers find greater ease and technical prowess in their work and even help them more properly express themselves as performers. It is often the case that practice methods that seem unconventional can be the key to helping said performer unlock an ability that is merely blocked doubt or some other sort of mental issue.
Key Concept-Many people do not reach their full potential as performers because of mental blocks that cause self doubt and prevent true talent from showing itself. In order to combat this performers must find creative ways to practice so they can free themselves from this block.
Key Terms-childlike enthusiasm, experimenting
Making Connections-I can't be afraid to be creative when it comes to practice methods. There may be some things that I can do both physically and mentally that will help me become a better singer and overcome challenges that would otherwise seem insurmountable.
