Chapter Summary: There are four important virtues that a good coach needs. The first virtue they need is called the matrix. To obtain the matrix, the coach needs to study coaching and myelinate circuits just like for any other skill. They need to build their storage of information on how to correctly carry out different exercises to increase skill. Their knowledge and application of different tactics is known as the matrix. Coaches also need to be perceptive. They need to  understand each student's personality, current ability and how they learn to be able to apply certain methods of teaching to better meet the needs of the student. The third virtue is the GPS reflex. This involves giving the student targeted information at the right times to help them grow faster. The fourth virtue is theatrical honesty. A good coach needs to be enthusiastic about the progress of their students and be able to connect with them.
There are two different types of skills: flexible-circuit skills and consistent-circuit skills. With flexible-circuit skills, the person has a wide range of possible ways to accomplish their task, like in writing. With consistent-circuit skills, the person needs to practice specific things constantly so they will be able to build a good foundation.
Key Concepts: There are four virtues that a good coach needs: the matrix, perceptiveness, the GPS reflex, and theatrical honesty. Teaching flexible-circuit skills is different than teaching consistent-circuit skills.

Making Connections: I need to study different tactics of how to achieve certain things in singing so that I will be able to find the ones that suit me best in helping me to reach my goal. I need to practice each thing I work on until I do it correctly to build a strong foundation.
