Summary: All about the JUDGES. We all have inner voices that criticize us, tell us what to do or not to do, or predict our future. The author calls these judges. Judges can have a lot of power over us, but that power can be lessened through our treatment of them. The author advises us to visual our judges very literally, and have a discussion with them. That discussion involves asking what they really are requiring, asking them why they require this, comprising on something more reasonable, and sometimes just plain getting angry at them! Then, from a detached and curious standpoint, take in what they have to say in a balanced way. Sometimes battling these judges take a lot of experimental approaches, so keep trying new things! And don't expect your rule over your judges to be perfect overnight. It takes much practice.
Key Concepts - Our inner judges are one of the largest barriers to good performance that we have. And we have control over those judges, so let's get crackin'!
Key Terms - judges
Making Connections - I can see that I've lived a life of inner judges controlling me, for sure. I liked that I don't have to ignore them completely though. They are usually saying something useful, so I just need to balance and temper what they tell me through a lens of positivity.
