Student: Stephanie J.
Date: 3/5/14
Short-term goals: Free her a-o joint, and find small successes while recovering from being sick.
Long-term goals: Think-let-trust in terms of eliciting pitch.
Plant of Action: Stephanie called and said that she's been sick this past week, so for today, I am planning on helping her vocalize free and easily and giving her some tools that she can use when she is not feeling well. I want to educate her about how she can practice while being sick, and also that this can be free and easy.
I am going to teach the [u]5351535153515351 vocalize again, but this time I will say, "it is going to feel scary cause you feel like you're losing control, and might not be singing the right notes, but if you maintain the yawn jaw and let you voice move by thinking the pitch it will come out, and be less taxing." I think that this will be a better explanation for her, rather than just saying keep it light at the top (this was a good instruction but I don't think it was specific enough). I just need to be more specific all around in my instruction and questions.
I want to try having her sit at the edge of the piano bench while leaning forward and releasing her neck. Hopefully this will help her loosen her lower back, and help her to sing more free and easily during her recovery.
Free and easy dove noise while maintaining an openness in her body.
I want to discuss vocal indigestion.
I want to discuss her song and ask her about it, and if she still wants to sing it (she mentioned that she wanted to sing something different).
