Brooke's Recital Hour critique

Brooke's recital hour critiques
Luke Shepherd-
Luke has a very lovely tone it is bright his low notes are bright and forward which I liked. Half of his high notes were open a few of them seemed swallowed. His last run I think he was nervous for because his throat got tight on them. The rest of the runs were better but still felt tight. Thomas got up and said that when he does a master class he likes saying what he thinks it is the god parts of the voice. Then he gets to the things that Luke needed to work on. He told Luke that he is singing off his voice because his shift is right in the middle of his range. To fix this he had Luke speak the text in the same volume that he did to introduce himself. He then had him slow down the text and put emphasis on the consonants. When he had Luke sing in his "chest voice"it was amazing the difference. He sounded so much better. He also wanted to have Luke make his vowels more focused. He then talked about inspiring the audience. An exercise he gave Luke was to crescendo every phrase.

Elizabeth Tait
She has a very nice even vibrato and i really like her low notes. He vowel on her first word lift is a little spread but as the piece went on it got better. He told her he wants her to commit to the beauty of this piece. He told her she has several pockets of vocal positions. One breath must be generous and consistent. "I am committing to keep my breath constant". He had her sing he song on one vowel, the "O" vowel. She had a really hard time connecting her high notes to her low notes and he had he do it backwards. and then we ran out of time.
