Laura B - VRH 9/12

Laura B
Brooke Myers: She has a beautiful voice, and she handled the fast pace of the song with all of its runs relatively well. Her high notes were clear and brilliant! Brooke's breathing was higher in the body than preferred. This caused a somewhat panicky feel throughout the piece, because I wasn't sure if she was going to make it through every phrase.  She would have been able to get more sustaining breaths if she improved her posture into a more confident stance and brought her soldiers back. Her expression never changed throughout the entirety of the piece in neither her face nor her body. Could definitely use some more expression and some happiness in the body! Her hands were in a weird position out to the sides, almost as if she was getting ready for take off. Watch out for that, because it was distracting visually.
Kimberly Robbins: Kimberly has such a beautiful and rich voice. I was surprised by how rich her voice was and the expression she used throughout the piece. Her jaw seemed relaxed, and I noticed little tension in the body. For the most part, her breathing was deep in the body, but at some ends of phrases her body would cave in a little. She is on the right path in her expression, but I would take it the next step and make each movement seem like it was done on purpose and have some thought behind it.
Emily Floyd: Great job hitting those high notes! I can tell that she's been working on those. Overall, her breathing was deep, but I would be careful on the short breaths. They tended to be shallow. The sound seemed to be coming from the back of her throat, making it slightly muffled.  It should be brought forward so that we can all hear her beautiful voice. Her body seemed relaxed, but her jaw was tense, especially on the high notes. Also, put some expression into the piece. It is a beautiful love song and needs to be expressed that way.
