LaeKin Burgess Lesson Summary #2

LaeKin Burgess
Lesson Summary#2

Every lesson I have makes me feel a little better about myself.  After reading the Talent Code I've taken on a different attitude about errors.  Instead of feeling really down on myself when I make mistakes I think "Hey, error detection! This is good! I'm on the right track." This lesson started much like the others. We did vocalizes to help me set up my breath correctly and talked about what a good breath should feel like. Then we worked on my onset especially for my higher notes. We talked about how it should feel like I'm falling through the high notes from above them rather than reaching for them(which I already knew but we talked about different ways to achieve this). After vocalizes we worked on one of my songs. We talked about how it was better to take more silent breaths in inconspicuous places rather than singing a longer phrase, having our ribcage collapsed by the end of it and taking gaspy breaths. That makes sense to me. :) So, for this week I'm working on taking silent breaths and keeping the feeling of inhale throughout the phrase, in other words, energizing the breath.
