Soprano On Her Head
Chapter 2:
All of us have a
panel of judges in our mind. We may see them as dark blobs without shape or
form. They might have a very clear form. Maybe they are our parents, or a
previous teachers, or jury members for voice lessons. No matter what form they
take the should absolutely not have control over us. We need to learn to
overcome our fears. We need to understand that it doesn't matter what they
think about us. It only matters who we are and what we want to give. We need to
feel power against our judges. And we can. It is something that we can
accomplish. It takes work but we can do it.
Key concept: We have
power over our fears in performing. We can even see them as allies.
Key Terms: Judges
Making Connections:
I would like to try this exercise of putting my fears and judges into form, and
then telling them to leave. At the very least I need to realize that I have
control over my life, and I shouldn't let my fears control my life.
