Amber Lesson Summary 9-17
I came warmed up and ready to go. We laid out a plan for jury pieces and recital sets.
WE then dove right into the music. We worked on phrasing and support through a wolf piece, "Auch kleine dinge". We backed up and chunked it down. It was coming much smoother after a good twenty minutes.
We then moved on to Bernstein's "Glitter and be Gay" I don't expect to ever really perform it as it was selected to help be get out of my comfort zone and push me as a performer. I had practiced all of the portions of it at one time or another over the past few weeks, but never done a run through. We ran it. MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH! It came out pretty much loose, natural, supported and just....in the zone! I have never been able to do that with anyone listening before. The only time I have ever been happy with my sound is when I am singing in the house alone with all the windows closed. This has been a lifelong hurdle of anxiety that was finally breached today. It was so amazing to finally really cut lose and let it go for real this time without fear.
Awesome day! Stepping out of a comfort zone may be uncomfortable, but it is so worth it.
