Amber DC Chapter 5
A seeming explosion of talent or genius doesn't just come from out of nothing. Like any explosion, there has to be an initial spark to set it off; a point of inspiration. This can come on the form of a countryman winning a world title, Another human being doing the impossible (ie: the four minute mile), trying to keep up with a faster more adept older sibling, or even a circumstance that reveals a person's good fortune the the want to NOT waste it.
Key Concepts: For every appearance of prodigy, skill, or genius, there is a point of ignition/inspiration.
Key terms: Primal cue, Ignition, Inspiration, fortunate/gratitude, Identity.
Making connections: A student must make the decision to be a singer before ever meeting with voice instructor. A student needs to make the connection with a future identity as a singer. My own point of ignition as a singer: The re-release of The Sound of Music in theaters in the mid to late 1970's when I was maybe 6 or 7 years old. Julie Andrews is my hero.
