Amber DC Chapter 6

Amber DC Chapter 6
How do you keep a motivational fire lit? An environment must be filled with primal cues to keep the momentum of motivation going. Also, Positive reinforcement, not empty praise at the right time and place helps to keep the motivational fire lit.
Key Concepts: The right environment full of the right cues is crucial. Praise for effort brings greater results than praise for success.
Key terms: Sustained ignition, Verbal signals, visual cues, cue, guidance, signal, motivational language.

Makign connections: A teacher needs to acknowledge effort.
A good quote for a teacher from Jay Engblom, "Here's the deal. You've got to give kids credit at a younger age for feeling stuff more acutely." Build confidence with what you say and do around them (this is a mom rule too).
