For this lesson, I was prepared. I had the translations and IPA for two songs instead of one, and I had learned the melody for both songs. During this lesson, Laurie and I worked on vocalizes and selecting more music. We selected songs from "Songs of travel," and are working to find a suitible italian piece. We worked on blending registers and releasing tension in the throat. Some of the key things I learned were that using falsetto in warm-ups can increase one's range, and also that using primal sounds helps to releave tension. For next lesson, I have made goals to have my song analysis papers ready, to have a list of songs I've sung, and to have picked a couple of songs to do for juries.
New vocalizes: breathing in with an imploded "K," thinking the top of scale, singing down.
