Ben Shaw masterclass notes 09/03/2013

1. Shalayna
2. Breathing: "balloon" at the beginning of phrases, quick breaths more "bucket."
3. Intonation: good.
4. Timbre: mature, rich tone. Resonance has a tendency to kick in after the start of some words.
5. Diction: good s, k; words in the middle of the phrase hard to understand.
6. Expressiveness: Appropriate facials, phrases somewhat disjuncted vocally.
7. Masterclass: Improvement in dynamic contrast, smoothness of phrases, and Diction.
8. overall: Well done. Keep the good habits from the beginning of phrases all the way through the song.

2. Breathing: rushed and bucketed, probably due to the speed of the piece.
3. Intonation: Good, but watch descending lines that can have a tendency to sag under pitch
4. Timbre: Rich, powerful, resonate tone; Sounds great.
5. Diction: excellent.
6. Expressiveness: dropped, probably due to focus on technique.
7. Masterclass: Helped the performer to realize areas of needed focus, crocodile vs. boa constrictor.
8. Overall: Not a bad impromptu performance. Good Italian too.

2. Breathing: In the middle of phrases, rushed breaths are audible and visible.
3. Intonation: No problems
4. Timbre: sweet, mature voice, resonance was inconsistent.
5. Diction: Good.
6. Expressiveness: performance seemed somewhat unengaged, lines were disjuncted.
7. Masterclass: helped improve consistency of resonance.
8. overall: Wonderful voice. Use it all the time when singing.
