Vocalizations: sighing, yawn sighing, ni-ne-na-no-nu, the wobble, lip buzz octave leap, 1-3-5-1-5-3-1 on pup, really hard one (sets of three, alternating between staccato and legato), getting high, two toe
Helpful vocalizations: Even though I sucked big time at the sets of three, this vocalize was a really quick way for me to tell if I was connecting with my breath...and I wasn't. It is impossible to do without good breath support so I need to implement it into my practice more.
Music worked on: Clouds, Les Petites Communiantes, and Voi Avete
Take aways: I felt like most of this lesson was just battling the lack of energy I had today. I honestly had moments where I felt like no sound was coming out. I had such a low energy level, that my biggest take away is to do whatever I can to have a high energy level at my next lesson! I need to do jumping jacks or something and get lots of sleep the night before, or I am just absolute rubbish!
Impact on weekly practice: Like I said earlier, I need to be more energized so I may need to start having dance parties before I practice again. We also talked about nasal presence, and speaking my text more to help find that. Particularly on Clouds because it sits lower I need to speak the text more to make it feel more natural in my voice. I need to spend more time speaking my text, stopping myself if I feel my nasal presence disappear and do not sing again until I find it.
Goals for next week: 2 more pieces memorized. Watchful eye on nasal resonance and vibrancy. Come with more energy! Work on the sets of three vocalize.
