Sam Meredith Anna O Lesson Plan 1/30

This is my third lesson with Anna. Anna's long-term goal is to gain more confidence in her singing. My short-term goals for this lesson are to help her exercise her higher register in a healthy way and to help her better understand what breathing for singing should feel like. To accomplish this first goal I want to do some vocalizes that will help her access her higher range with out constricting. I'm going to do some sighs and yawns along with some sirens. If there is time I want to give her a few exercises to help her transfer between her more child-like head voice and her full speaking voice. To achieve my goal of helping her feel what correct breathing for singing is I'm going to have her take some normal breaths in different positions (i.e. standing, sitting, bent over). I'm going to ask her before hand to pay attention to where the expansion in her body is happening. My hope is that when she is in a different position she will feel the expansion in her lower back rather than in her chest or shoulders, that way she will have a good experience with breath to draw back on in the future.
