Sarah Brenay - Emma Wright - Lesson Plan 2/16/14

Today I want to discuss the in class warm ups with her and make sure she's not shell shocked.
Then I want to continue our conversations about breathing. I want to assess how much she took in, and then clarify some things. Specifically, I want to talk about having the energy of a surprised breath without tension in the shoulders and chest. I think the imagery doesn't work for her because she just tenses up. She obviously doesn't like surprises. Anyway I want to talk about that.
Then we'll do some hisses to control exhale.
Then [u] in 54321 and 8531.
Then some [bibibi] because she's good at those, and people should get a change to do things they're good at now and again.
Then we'll do some silent 8 exercises. She pinching up in her high range. Want to see if we can work on that.
Then we'll connect the breathing exercises to her singing by going through some repertoire of hers on the hiss, and then on [u], and then with words.
