LaeKin Burgess Lesson Summary 2/3

In this lesson I found my "big girl voice." It felt really good and everything anyone had ever said about tracheal tug and release and airflow just seemed to fall into place. Of course, It only lasted of a couple of measures before I lost it on a different vowel and higher pitch. However, I found it! I found it in the passagio too, which is the most exciting part! We started with the usual lip buzzes on 5 note scales then full scales, then we did the [thi] in the same manner. We focused on onset and when my onset was hard Brianna stopped me and had me squeeze everything super tight then release on the vocalise. This worked great! We then applied this to my song we were working on (Chanson d'amour). We worked the onset of each new measure in the same way we worked our vocalizes and we put [thi] before each vowel. This worked wonders for me! Goals and takeaways from that lesson was to use vocalises that surprise me and give me moments of complete release, then apply that to my song. Now I know some vocalises that really worked for me. I've tried really hard to continually find my "big girl voice" since my lesson but I can't tell if I'm doing it quite right. I'm going to do the same vocalises we did this week and try to apply it to slightly higher pitches. My goal is to discover what it takes to keep that low, tracheal tug I was feeling and apply it to higher pitches.
