Emily C., Ashli H., Lesson Plan for 2/10/14
Plans:
- I want to reiterate the low breathing with the squat today. I want to focus more on her breathing that I did last time.
- I’m going to try against with the [li le la lo lu] and the bounce concept with her. I think it could be really helpful, but she’s still grasping the concept.
- Definitely stick with the yawns. I think I want to change up the vowel to “yawee” to get her tone more forward. The yawn originally helped with the jaw tension, but it’s pulling her tone back. I think using the “ee” will help bring it more forward.
- I forgot to have her lay on the cough to loosen up; we’ll see if we can get to that this time.
- I want to start with some jaw massages as well before we start anything. It’s going to be our main focus for a while.
- I’m going to try adding the “primal sounds” to give her more depth while she’s singing.
Goals:
Short:
- I would like to get her to release in her jaw and tongue.
- I want her to breathe freely and think more about bouncing from note to note instead of just straight lining it.
Long:
- I want to get her to come at the pitch from above; that’ll solve a lot of her tension problems and straining for higher pitches.
