Emily C., Amanda G., Lesson Plan for 2/13/14

Plans: 
  • I want to work on getting her face more engaged in her singing, her vowels, consonant clarity, and keeping her breathing low. I’m going to ask her about her interpretation of the music. 
  • Remember to work on the higher chorus section with her, thinking about pitch/rhythms.
  • I need to remember to go over the “bounce” concept with her, as well as “mama.”
  • I want to work on head mobility/neck release on her vocalizes. 
  • I’m going to go over the squat breathing thing again several times throughout the lesson to remind her of the deep breathing. 
  • I want to try primal sound with her on just “huh” before a vocalize. 


Goals:
Short:
  • I want to work on her deep breathing/loose posture
  • I want to make Amanda more “mobile” in her singing; she seizes up, so I think I’m going to try some simple “dancing” from A Soprano on Her Head. 

Long:

  • I would like for her to become more “attached” to what she’s singing. It seems that she lacks emotional connection to the music, and I hope to encourage her musical sense to give her more interpretational freedom.
