Shalayna VRH critiques

VRH
Emily Floyd
B: nice balloon breath shallow at times
I: lower notes were very beautiful and sounded mature and smooth but when reaching for higher notes  there is a presence of strain
T: dark
D: diction was well could use a little more emphasis on their words to convey the meaning
E: very focused sound and presence.
O: very prepared stance. You brought me into the song and I think as performers we always want that response from the audience. Nice job!


Amber Denslow
B: audible breathe
I: pitches were a kind of all over the place but then again I do not know the song. 
T: light and breathy
D: was a little unclear through some of the french, you seemed unclear as well be confident in what you are singing 
E: good expression on your face even throughout all the confusion I could kind of tell what was going on in the emotion of the text
O: although you looked back a couple of time at the pianist and there was a lot of musical issues you FINISHED and you kept singing. I love that! 

Amber Farrow
B: prepared breath
I: sound is balanced
T: thin belt when reaching the high notes but lower notes are balance and smooth
D: words are easy to understand
E: the phrases are expressed well but body was swaying side to side
O: always looks like she enjoys performing. the piece was motivation and she gave it meaning. 

Michael Lechner
B: good supported breath
I: toned sounds pressed
T: nasal sounding
D: muffled diction mouth could articulate more
E: looked like he was trying to get the aprroval from the audience rathering tellin the audience how to feel and what the story was. 
O: confident stance.

Jared Daley
B:  well supporting breath
I: very good vowel especially on the higher long tones
T: buzzy sound good resonces
D very clear diction  I understood every word ( and not because this is my 20th time hearing you sing it J )
E: very expressive and shows the understanding of the emotion of the song
O: focused  could start more calming so that there is more dramatic build up so that the song can have direction

Sarah Gee

B: nervous breath short and shallow but ony in the beginning of phrases
I: tone is light but focused
T: timid and light, mellow
D: clear diction but still timid 
E: looked like you really cared about what you are singing. Its so nice to hear you sing but i know there is a voice in there waiting to blossom. 
O: well done! share your gifts with us we want to hear them! you remind me of the lady from sister act who at first, is scared to sing but then Whoopi Goldberg shakes her stomach and her voice just comes out like the HSE .... I think I need to shake your stomach ( I know side tract sorry, if only it were that easy) 

Jordan Davis

B: breath on new phrases in under-prepared, the middle of the phrase has a good supporting breath
I: e  vowel in scratchy and thin
T: constricted sound , sounds kind of stuck in the throat
D: clear words
E: strained when reaching high notes
O: always seems like a painful reach when you sing. Body needs to be relaxed, especially in the forehead and throat area

B: high chest breath is the shoulder
I: oo vowel at the end of the phrase was noice and rounded the I in “I cry” was nice belt sound with good resonance
T: breathy and chesty
D: I understood every word
E: understood the emotion more in the beginning than the end (stick with it )
O:good emotions and awareness of her body and what the song meant to her personally. 

Emily hess

B:  breathing with her shoulders
I: higher notes in the belt are nice and clear
T: confident sound when belting higher
D: clear diction , good expressive sound on the word "whisper"
E: tension in the forehead
O: controlled and confident throughout the whole performance

Kaylee Farris

B: audible reaching breath
I: beautiful rounded vowel oo in” song”  good resonace on that
T: breathy  and rounded sound
D: lower notes  the diction was little muffeled and unsure
E: she had an expression on her face that looked like singing hurt her. He face needs to loosen up. 

O: sure of the song but meaning didn’t come across her face it was more of "going through the motions"
