Chapter Summary: After the initial ignition process, the individual needs to be continually ignited to stay motivated. As in the example of the Curacao island, many little league players were inspired by Andruw Jones who not only accomplished a great baseball feat but continued to progress in his skill. In an island nearby  similar to Curacao called Aruba, there was also talented baseball player, Sidney Ponson. Ponson was the cause for Aruba's ignition, but Ponson's popularity died when his drinking problem became known and he was arrested. This lead to Aruba's decrease in motivation and success, while Andruw Jones continued to inspire Curacao island baseball players and help their drive to succeed. Talent hot beds have many signals that continue to drive the individual forward. These places also use motivational language that praises hard work and adds to the ignition process.
Key Concept: The ignition process does not automatically give enough energy to motivate a person to develop a skill. The ignition process starts the output of energy, but needs to be built upon continually for the person to be continually energized for deep practice.
Key Term: Motivational Language
Making Connections: I need to continually motivate myself and find inspiration to develop my singing and not rely on old ignitions. I need to use motivational language to help myself admire hard work.
