Jaron Putnam Chapter Summary 7 TC

Jaron Putnam Chapter 7 Summary

Summary: Another way to ignite yourself, or to ignite a group of people is through the use of Primal cues. Using multiple primal cues in a consistent way can yield the same results as following the example of one talented person. Children at KIPP schools are able to demonstrate this idea. This school is centered around helping kids to have the motivation needed to be incredibly successful in life. These children are motivated, told, encouraged, and are given opportunities to be incredible and to develp great skills. Through these cues; when they work they work in deep practice mode. These things coupled together creates an incredible environment where great things happen.

Key Concept: Another way I can ignite myself is by giving myself the right primal cues. Surrounding myself with those who are better than I am, or giving myself the right motivation can help me quickly get into deep practice mode.

Key Terms:
Primal Cues
Signals

Making Connections:

For me, I think I need to recognize a "more competitive" environment at the school as being a good thing. I need to use this environment to fuel my progress and help me to want to practice more and get into the deep practice mode.
