Emily F. TC chapter 7: Igniting motivation without some amazing inspiration takes hard work and focus. The KIPP schools have shown that great success and talent can come from the ground up, and again, like all the other examples in the book, it's because of the time and practice put into it. These schools are communities that manufacture primal cues that cause the spark of motivation. Also, as we saw in the previous chapter, effort-based language is employed fully. Structure and attention to detail help to solidify a sense of identity that is associated with the goals the students want to reach.
Key Concept: Creating talent is possible without any external influence, but it requires discipline, structure, proper motivation, and a whole lot of work.
Key Terms:
Making Connections:This tells me that in addition to having deep practice, I need to be disciplined. Sometimes it's hard to stay motivated, but if we can fall back on structure that we've created, we can still move forward. Along with this structure, we need a goal and an inspiration to guide us.
