Brooke M Chapter 7 Summary-
The KIPP program that two young men started was more than just a great idea. It was full of ignition. They came up with a way to get the KIPP students to think of themselves as belonging to a group and there prize would be college. These primal cues are pounded into the KIPP students and the results are amazing. The word college is used like it is a definite thing they are going to do. This gives the students then he ability to see themselves at college. Everything at a KIPP school has to be earned. The first day the kids have only a binder and sit on the floor and are told once they do a specific behavior they can earn desks and more privileges. That is there motivation.

Connection- When reading about the KIPP students it amazes me to see how disciplined they are. But I asked myself, how on earth does this relate to me? I am not a fifth grader I am already in college. Then I read more into the chapter finding that if I change how I see myself I can change my own behavior. I have been afraid to be a vocal performance major not quite believing in myself. That self doubt in my mind has hindered me so far. I need to see myself as a professional working as a vocalist.
