Brooke M- ch 6 Summary- There is a Little League baseball team who know one thought much of. But yet year after year they have not only made it to the nationals but have places and won it a few times. What is it that keep there motivational fire going? It is because of breakthrough performances and a series of complex primal cues. For the Curacao island the primal cues of the coach, Jr. league, big league baseball games are just a few they encounter. Curacao possessed a set of tools to keep the ignition and motivation going. There was a message going out to that little league team "hey, that could be you". Praise from a coach, teacher or friends can help us get that motivation. It is found thought that if you praise the effort and not the outcome then results will be higher. Praise should be true and not constant. It should be earned.

Connection- I was a dance teacher this past year and looking back I really wish I would have known this concept. If I had known that less praise would make my girls work harder I would not have been easy on them and expected more of them. I also need to praise myself in my own practice time. My results may not be what I want them to be but I am working, and working hard on it, and that should be praised.
