Amber TC chapter 4
The rules of deep practice are one, two, three: 1) chunk it up, 2) repeat it, 3) Learn to feel it.
1)Chunking it up is taking in the whole thing to get a sense of what you should be doing overall, then breaking it down into workable bite size chunks to digest and refine, and then slow it all down while working on those chunks to work it fine, and really absorb it all. 2)repeat it. BUT do so in the "sweet spot" 3) Feel (connect with) what's comfortable, the then stretch into the discomfort of what you're striving for. Go just out of reach, not over the dang cliff!
Key concepts: You need to see both the big picture and the little bits that make up that picture and be able to identify and them all. Repetition for repetition's sake gets you nowhere; it must have meaning, connection, feeling, absorption, and passion.
Key terms: Struggle, grasp, hotbed, attentive, honing, myelin model, firing (of circuits), chunks, absorb, feel, (I'd list everything on Pages144-145, but it felt redundant).
making connections: Repetition is meaningless without understanding and awareness. If your not in that sweet spot feeling it, then why the heck do it? You're just wasting your time and energy otherwise. None of us has time for that.
