Emily Floyd:
Nice resonance to the voice throughout, very clean entrances. Throughout, breaths were a little shallow, intonation was great with one exception. There was an uncomfortable jump near the beginning (a half step up, followed be a bit of a leap up) that showed some constriction, and was out of tune. The timbre was a little on the heavy side, felt a little bit closed. The consonants were lost here and there, but always understandable. There was some emotion, but I didn't feel a real direction with it.
Amber Danslow:
Very wide dynamic contrast and the emotion was very clear. Unfortunately, I felt like a lot of the tension and anxiety in the performance weren't necessary and were just from the performer, resulting it a slightly restricted tone. The breath seemed a little bit labored. As far I know, the diction was great.

Breaths were deep, gave plenty of support, but if they were a little less obvious, that would help the flow of the piece. Consistent tone was clear, really opened up for the high notes. Very clear expression, accented certain words well. The only diction comment I have is the first time you sang "loud," you popped your tongue off of the roof of your mouth, much as (in case you wanted to know) a "q" is phonated when speaking the Xhosa language. Overall the performance was smooth.
Michael Lechner
Overall unprepared. That sums most of the performance up.

Possibly the best student performance I've ever seen. Tone was even, open but not heady, no hesitation on any pitch, the words were clear, and the development of phrases was excellent. Only constructive comment I have is that there appeared to be some tension throughout the body. Occasionally the chin would pull up, and the only time I noticed it affect the tone was on the O vowel in "When all I've lived for."

The piece ended and I was surprised. I wanted it to go on. It was a very rough beginning, not sure if it was a memory blank or something else, but it definitely put stress on the brain for the rest of the performance. As the song continued the tension started to subside a little bit.

Breathing was a bit of a bucket issue. Support was there, but the releases ended up not as clean as they could have been. The pitches all came out right, but it felt like there was hesitation, particularly in the acapella sections. The sound was a little bit heady, I thought it may have been a conscious choice for the piece, but then the sound deepened for the middle section. So more consistency in the timbre would be appropriate. It made for a very expressive performance though.

The vocal expression was very effectively done. Phrases seemed well-crafted. The physicality of the performance wasn't convincing of the emotion though. The first "River" had a very western accent on the vowels, but they got better as the song went on. The timbre of the voice had some inconsistencies. It was open and clear sometimes, sometimes it got down in the chest and I heard a slight rattle in the voice.
Emily Harris
Very clear tone, and overall a smooth performances. The way the phrases were developed put accents in great places. Support was a little lacking, so a more inflated balloon would be in order. There was a complete disconnect in one phrase though, where it was a good sized drop to the word "kissed" and it was completely separated from the rest of the phrase.

Very nice resonance, could have seen a little bit more development in the line. I think breath was the biggest issue here. Particularly the verse felt very disjointed. There were short phrases all by themselves that could have be taken in one breath, and that would have smoothed the performance a lot.
