Brook Meyers:
Good Breath support. you have a powerful voice. There were only a few spots that I noticed that there was a drop in energy that could have made those phrases sound smoother and more meaningful. your German is great. you have a richness to your voice that is soothing to hear. Through it you have a great ability to convey a lot of emotion through it but don't forget that it is not the only source you have in portraying a mood. I noticed you move your hands slightly and I felt that you really wanted to do something with them. If you plan it out and you practice doing it and it makes sense and shows the emotion that your character is feeling, try it out on somebody and ask them how they liked it. Don't keep yourself from doing something that would add to the overall performance.
Liz Tait:
You have a wonderful and unique sound that is so very raw and expressive on so many levels. Still keep in mind your posture, it will help you get deeper breaths. you have been working so hard and I love how much you know about your pieces. I especially love when you sing french. it is such a beautiful language and you execute it very well. Beautiful performance.
Samuel Meredith:
Great energy and stage presence. Fun to watch and very expressive. If I hadn't been familiar with the song already I would have been able to follow along well. your voice is very vibrant and pleasant to listen to. you slid a lot on the word esposa i thought it was a fun character choice could make that a clearer choice or chose not to. You started a little tense but you warmed up very early in the song. That was a nice, solid performance.
Brad Summers:
You have a great voice. Very deep. loosen up a little. When you perform it is nerve racking but if you let yourself relax you can breath much better and achieve the free sound that is so sought after. you could also add more expression to the piece. I really didn't have any idea what you were singing about except I think I heard the word amor in the text somewhere. Try to ground yourself a little more while you're singing that will help, too.
Randy Wellbaum:
You really have a wonderful voice but seem very tense as you sing. sometimes you have your head tilt to one side and one arm held very ridged. I noticed a few high breaths here and there but overall they were good. there was a bit of an American flare to the word bambino but the rest of your diction was very clear and clean. I really love listening to your voice and your overall performance was great.
Emily Cottam:
you seemed a little nervous but you still delivered. you had good diction. you have a nice light quality to your voice that invites others to listen to it. I think that you will do great things with that lovely voice. could have enjoyed a little more expressiveness and depth to the song itself. overall great job.
Britini Manning:
I love Pirates of Penzance! This is a fun song for you and good for you. Don't be afraid of the high notes. I sensed that you were closing off a little on them. you didn't sound strained but it just didn't sound as free as you can be. you have such a powerful and energetic voice it makes me feel more energetic and able to listen to it more. I could understand every word you said and it was very clear and pleasing to hear.
Jaron Putnam:
I love this song and it is perfect with your voice. I felt like you could have imagined the street a little more and picked specific moments to sing directly to your "Fair Lady" and pretend that your character is imagining her face and trying to explain to her in your mind how much you love her.I felt a little confused because your focus was everywhere all the time. Having multiple focal points isn't bad but when it is unclear to the audience and it starts to feel like you are scanning the audience, that is when you need to step back and ask yourself, "where do I want to focus? when? and on whom?" I think if became clearer to you the overall performance will become just outstanding. I wasn't convinced that you were walking down the street a complete nutcase thinking about how much you love Eliza. Today you were at a level of great and enjoyable but I think you are aiming for astounding. you are such a dependable singer. I know that every time you get up to sing I can count on a good performance with great diction and intonation. Breathing was great. Great job.
Emily Hess:
That is a great outfit, very classy. you have a very beautiful voice. you were in tune. breaths were high occasionally. you cloud have put more emotion in to this performance. I just didn't feel like you had any connections made to this song. Watch what you do with your hands and swaying and such. those things can be helpful in the practice room but don't make them a crutch because you don't want to do a lot of movement when performing. It was a good performance though.
Laekin Burgess:
Great job you are always so consistent and aware of details. you have a lovely bubbly voice. your vibrato reminds me of snow white except for you don't sound as wimpy. your generally breath right and in a way that allows for good support. Great diction. you could be a little more expresive in the future. I didn't particularly feel engaged in this performance. I'm not sure what part specifically needed more energy or facial expression but just play around with it. That was a good performance.
Caitlin Craig:
Fun song. I love that song a lot. Every time I hear it I get a kick out of it. Good job keeping going and ad-libbing. I'm not sure I could think that fast to cover myself like you did. I probably wouldn't have noticed had I not heard it several times before. Fun actions that aren't too big or distracting. I could totally imagine you as a little girl. Great job. Just review a little before you perform next time so it is more fresh in your mind.
Jared Daley:
POWERHOUSE!!! Man you are so talented and able to do so many different styles. You are amazing. I'm amazed that you don't just pass out after holding those long notes. Wow. Do they feel like you are straining to keep yourself suspended. I mean your face goes red when you do those super long notes that sound amazing. Do they Feel as amazing as they sound? How do you prep yourself for that type of singing. how do you belt without killing your voice? your intonation is great and I could understand everything you sang. You did an amazing job.
Moriah Boyer:
I felt like a few of your breaths happened in some awkward spots. you have a very beautiful tone to your voice. try to add more feeling to your song. you had good intonation but I think that you should look over the song's translation a couple more times and really delve into what it means. I mean it is Carmen talking about how irresistible she is. you have to convince the audience that you are Carmen and therefore show them that you are confident and that you know that you are beautiful. She is anything but shy, timid, nervous, or afraid which ultimately gets her into a lot of trouble. Good performance.
Amber:
Good emotion, hard to do with music in front of you. you have a lovely voice that, to me, sounds like honey. good job with diction I could understand what you sang. it was a nice performance. Samuel Barber is great composer. Good song choice. you had a very nice use of dynamics. good intonation. Great performance.
Shalayna Guisao:
Shalayna, way to end the day! you have a very powerful voice. You sometimes try to be rhythmically accurate or something by doing glottal stops here and there that bring your pitch up slightly at the end of phrases. This song is great for you. You sing it so well with so much emotion. I loved the performance. Beautiful job.
