Lesson Summary 9/3 LaeKin Burgess

Lesson Summary

My lesson was on Tuesday, it was my second lesson.  My first week was spent finding repertoire for my recital mostly so I was prepared to discuss this some more at this lesson and I was ready to sing. When I arrived we discussed some more repertoire.  Brianna suggested some pieces that I wasn't very comfortable with but I knew would help me be a better singer (I've got some serious myelinating to do).  After discussing repertoire we moved on to some warm ups and vocalises.  We talked about the space and ease required for good high notes and how to achieve this.  Something that stuck out to me was the emphasis that Brianna places on the mental focus of singing the high notes and then just letting it happen from there. It reminds me a lot of the concepts we are talking about in the Talent Code. My goal for next lesson is to have all my repertoire picked out, printed and given to my accompanist and to mentally practice my preparation for high notes.
